PERCONTI NAMED THIRD TEAM ALL-WEST REGION
Lake Forest College senior linebacker Bernie Perconti (Louisville, KY/Kentucky Country Day H.S.) has been selected to the Third Team All-West Region by Don Hansen's Football Gazette. Members of the three teams comprise roughly six percent of players in the region.
Perconti, a First Team All-Midwest Conference selection in 1999 and 1998, led Lake Forest with 102 tackles (54 solo and 48 assists), 19 tackles for losses, and 7.0 sacks this season. He also had an interception. His tackles total was the tenth-highest single season total in school history. On the conference level, Perconti finished tied for third in the league with 0.78 sacks per game (7.0 sacks in 9 games) and tied for fifth with 92 tackles in league play. Of the top 15 tacklers in the MWC, he was one of just three to have more solo tackles than assists. Perconti was a pre-season All-West region pick by Don Hansen's Football Gazette.
Perconti was one of six Midwest Conference athletes named on the three West region teams. He was joined by linebacker Jerimiah Janssen (St. Norbert), tight end Jeff Pedersen (Grinnell), quarterback Tim Pierret (St. Norbert), running back Patrick Bowman (Illinois College), and wide receiver Joe Rettler (Ripon).
