Brent Becker Sheds “Interim” from Head Coaching Title
Becker will continue to direct the Forester Football Program

Brent Becker will continue to lead the Forester football team.
LAKE FOREST, IL – Lake Forest College Athletic Director Jackie Slaats officially announced Thursday (December 8) that Brent Becker, who had served as Interim Head Coach for the 2005 football season, will continue to lead the program as its Head Coach.

“We’re very happy with the job Coach Becker did this past fall,” Slaats explains. “He is a talented and proven young coach with a bright future and we’re excited to have him here at Lake Forest College. We strongly believe in his ability to bring out the best in his players on the field, in the classroom, and in all areas of campus life.”

Lake Forest posted a 4-6 overall record in 2005 and is now 19-11 in Becker’s three seasons on staff. Lake Forest players earned nine All-Midwest Conference accolades and eight Foresters were named Academic All-MWC, matching the highest total in team history.

Becker was the defensive coordinator in 2003 and 2004 and his units ranked among the national leaders in various statistical categories and surrendered fewer points than any other team in the league during that time. In addition, a Forester was named MWC Defensive Player of the Year both seasons.

Prior to coming to Lake Forest, Becker served as an assistant coach at Knox College (1998), Greenville College (1999-00), and Saginaw Valley State University (2001-02). His teams have now posted a combined record of 56-30 in his eight years of coaching.

“I really enjoyed coaching the team this past fall,” began Becker, “and I’m grateful to the administration for having the confidence in me to continue in that role. We have a young and talented team and I’m very excited about the future of the program.”
