JIM SMITH NAMED NATIONAL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
On Thursday morning, Lake Forest College freshman
Jim
Smith (Chicago, IL/Mount Carmel High School) was named the NCAA Division
III Rookie of the Week by USA Football.
The 5-10, 200 pound rookie totaled 282 yards of offense during a 43-38
loss to Ripon on Saturday (Oct. 9). He caught five passes for a team-high
136 yards, rushed 14 times for 87 yards (6.2 yards/carry) and a touchdown,
and returned two kick-offs for 59 yards, also a team-high. He became the
first Forester this season to have over 100 yards receiving in a game.
Smith shared the honor with John Cupples, a linebacker from Moravian, and
Matt Simpson, a quarterback from Plymouth State College.
Pat Dunne, a sophomore
punter and kicker from Chicago, IL (Marist H.S.), was named to the Special
Teams Honor Roll after tying a school record with three fields last Saturday
(Oct. 9).
