Lake Forest College Men's Basketball
Coaching Staff
Associate Head Coach Brian Sommerhauser

Coach Sommerhauser is entering his sixth season (1998-present) as a member of the Forester coaching staff after being elevated to Associate Head Coach in 2002. In his five years with the program, Lake Forest has compiled a 42-38 mark in the Midwest Conference, making it the program's most successful five-year period since joining the league in 1974.

In 1999-2000, just his second year with the program, Sommerhauser helped lead the Foresters to the school's first-ever outright Midwest Conference Championship while compiling a 16-6 overall record and a perfect 16-0 mark in the league. The following year, he again played a significant role in guiding the team to a 16-7 overall record and the first back-to-back trip to the four-team MWC Tournament in the school's history. Lake Forest's 32 victories during those two seasons are the highest two-year total in the program's 92-year history.

Sommerhauser came to Lake Forest in 1998 after graduating from Denison University in Granville, Ohio, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics. In 2003, he completed his Master's degree in Business Administration from Loyola University of Chicago with an emphasis in Management and Marketing.

While at Denison, Sommerhauser was a four-year letter winner from 1994-1998 while also captaining the Big Red in 1998. In 1997 he helped lead the team to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in the program's history behind a 19-7 record. During that year he also earned North Coast Athletic Conference All-Tournament honors and the following year was named to the All-NCAC team as a senior. During his career at Denison, the team compiled the best four-year winning percentage in school history, a mark that still stands today.

While prepping at Nicolet High School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Sommerhauser was an All-Conference athlete in three sports and participated in the Wisconsin State Basketball Tournament in 1993.

Coach Sommerhauser is directly involved in all phases of the Forester Program including recruiting, scouting, on-floor coaching and player development, academic advising and many of the administrative duties.
