Foresters Receive 27 Academic All-Conference Honors
Fall sports garner five more selections than last year

  

LAKE FOREST, IL - The 2005 Fall Academic All-Midwest Conference Team was released Friday (November 18) and 27 Lake Forest College student-athletes from seven fall sports teams made the list. Sophomore standing and a 3.2 minimum cumulative grade point average was required for consideration.

The Forester football team had the most selections with eight student-athletes. Honorees included seniors Soren Johnson (Ripon, WI/Ripon) and Ben Reiss (Mahtomedi, MN/Mahtomedi), junior Patrick Grady (Des Plaines, IL/Maine West), and sophomores Rick Baynes (Overland Park, KS/Pembroke Hill), Pete Cahill (Chicago, IL/Rich East), Zax Foster (Vernon Hills, IL/Vernon Hills), Roman Shklover (Fox Point, WI/Nicolet), and Jeff Ziemnik (Oswego, IL/Oswego).

For the second year in a row, four volleyball players were awarded. Seniors Molly Smith (Watsonville, CA/Watsonville) and Keely Knack (Buffalo Grove, IL/Buffalo Grove) were selected along with sophomores Nicole Baich (Westchester, IL/Nazareth Academy) and Merissa Martin (Vernon Hills, IL/Vernon Hills).

Four men’s soccer players also made the list. Senior Adam Antell (Colchester, VT/Colchester) and junior Chris Georgen (St. Louis, MO/Crossroads School) were joined by sophomores Jacob Elperin (Highland Park, IL/Lake Forest Academy) and Attlia Schmidt (Akron, OH/Western Reserve Academy).

Women’s cross country was the third sport at Lake Forest with four members listed. Seniors Genia Lindsey (Albuquerque, NM/Sandia) and Katie Lupo (Eden Prairie, MN/Eden Prairie), junior Katie Snowden (Toronto, ON/York Mills Collegiate Institution), and sophomore Kris De la Torre (Aurora, CO/Eaglecrest) earned the award.

Three of the women’s tennis team’s seven members made the cut. They are seniors Jill Chudacoff (Highland Park, IL/Highland Park) and Brittany Richardson (Little Rock, AR/Central) and sophomore Alli Berry (Plymouth, MN/Robbinsdale Armstrong).

Women’s soccer also had three players listed in senior Melissa Stevenson (Littleton, CO/Dakota Ridge), junior Becca Bride (Wilmot, NH/Kearsarge Regional), and sophomore Jenny Murphy (Skokie, IL/Niles North).

The one men’s cross country runner listed was senior Will Pittinos (Coral Gables, FL/Palmer-Trinity).
