2002-03 Men's Swimming & Diving Preview

The rest of the MWC has to keep an eye out for senior Eric Boarini, two-time defending champ in the 50, 100, and 200-freestyle.
LAKE FOREST, IL - If history is any indication, the Forester men's swimming & diving team has to be the favorite at the 2003 Midwest Conference Championship. In each of the last three odd-numbered years (and four of the last five), Lake Forest has taken the team title, giving the team seven in its history.

While the third-place finish in 2002 was not what Head Coach Alec Webster and the Foresters wanted, it was not without its highlights. The 800-freestyle relay team swam the fastest time ever (7:05.26) by a conference school. Senior Eric Boarini, the anchor on that relay as well as the winning 400-yard freestyle relay, also took first in the 50, 100, and 200-freestyle events for the second straight year.

"I know we'll continue to get a lot of points out of Eric, Brandon [Johnson], Brady [Lowdermilk], Joe [Isaacs], and Aaron [Lawlor]," states Webster. "We'll still need a few more team members to step up if we want to get back on top at conference. In addition, we have some swimmers capable of advancing to the national meet."
