SWIMMING SQUAD PRESENTS THEIR END-OF-THE-SEASON AWARDS

Senior Rob Edgell (Alsager, England) and sophomore Randi Estes (LaBelle, FL) were named the Lake Forest College Most Valuable Swimmers for the 1999-2000 season, while sophomore Joe Zemaitis (Scottsdale, AZ) and freshman Erin Motzer (Libertyville, IL) were selected Most Improved Swimmers.

The awards were presented at Sunday's (April 30th) Winter/Spring Lake Forest College Athletic Banquet.

This season, Edgell was named the Midwest Conference Male Swimmer of the Year for the third time of his career. He finished his career having never lost an individual event at the conference meet. He recorded six Honorable Mention All-American swims, including three such swims at the 2000 NCAA Championships. Edgell holds eight schools records (six individual and relay events).

Estes won six events (three individual and three relays) at the 2000 MWC meet, the highest total of any competitor at the meet, and was named the MWC Female Swimmer of the Year. She won the 200 free, 200 fly, 200 IM, 400 free relay, 800 free relay, and 400 medley relay at the conference meet.

Zemaitis won a conference championship in the 200 fly and 400 medley relay and broke the school record in the 500 free this season.

Motzer, in her first season with the Foresters, was a four-time conference champion. She won the 1650 free and was a part of the 400 free, 800 free, and 400 medley relay teams.

Both the Lake Forest men's and women's swimming teams finished in third place at the 2000 MWC Championships.
