WHEATON, IL - In a meet that featured an NCAA Division I team and three of the best Division III teams in the nation, the Forester swim teams finished sixth (men) and seventh (women) in the Wheaton Invitational on Friday and Saturday (December 7-8th).

Wheaton was both the men's and women's team champion. UW-Milwaukee's women and Hope College's men finished second.

Senior Randi Estes (LaBelle, FL/Riverdale) and junior Erin Motzer (Libertyville, IL/Libertyville) combined to score just over one-half (54.5) of the women's team points (106.5).

Estes placed 8th in the 500-yard freestyle (5:19.60) and 15th in the 200-yard backstroke (2:18.60) on Friday and finished tied for 15th in the 200-yard freestyle (2:01.73) on Saturday. She also swam a leg on the team's 800-yard freestyle, 400-yard medley, 200-yard medley and 400-yard freestyle relays.

Motzer placed 9th in the 200-yard butterfly (2:20.09) on Friday and 5th in the 1,650-yard freestyle (19:00.97) on Saturday. She was also on the same four relays as Estes.

On the men's side, the scoring was a little more spread out as five team members scored at least 19 of the squad's 174 points.

Junior Brandon Johnson (Phoenix, AZ/Brophy) led the way, accounting for 32.5 points. He placed 14th in the 500-yard freestyle on Friday and finished 8th in Saturday's 400-yard individual medley (4:33.02) and 1,650-yard freestyle (17:47.60).

Sophomores Joe Isaacs (Shorewood, MN/Breck) and Brady Lowdermilk (Parker, CO/Regis) finished 9th in the 100-yard butterfly (55.06) and 11th in the 200-yard backstroke (2:10.50), respectively. Isaacs swam on four and Lowdermilk participated on three of the team's five relays.

Between the men's and women's teams, 83 of the 104 entries in the meet turned out to be season-best performances.

It was the final meet of the fall semester for the Foresters, who will embark on their annual training trip on January 2nd and will return on the 10th. This year's destination will be Phoenix, Arizona, where the team will compete in the Arizona State University Sun Devil Invitational on January 5th.
