and Diving Teams Win Big in Final Home Meet
Zemaitis was one of seven men who won at least one race. He was the first to touch the wall in the 200- (2:08.96)), 400- (4:35.48) and 800-meter (9:31.22) freestyle events, scoring 27 points in the three wins. Brady Lowdermilk (Parker, CO/Regis) was the other multiple winner on the men's side. He swam the first leg for the victorious 400-meter medley relay team (4:32.98), won the 100-meter backstroke in 1:09.10 and finished second in the 100-meter butterfly (1:01.75) for a total of 15.75 points. Joe Isaacs (Shorewood, MN/Breck) and Brandon Johnson (Phoenix, AZ/Brophy) scored 13 points apiece with a first and second place finish. Isaacs swam the Foresters' best time of the season in his 200-meter individual medley win (2:21.97) and placed second in the 400-meter freestyle (4:39.60). Johnson's win came in the 100-meter freestyle (58.23) and his runner-up finish was in the 50-meter freestyle (26.87). Anthony Laurino (Wichita, KS/Wichita East), Jeremy Koop (Newton, KS/Newton) and Brendan Kearns (Chesterfield, MO/St. Louis University) got their wins in the 400-meter medley relay, and each added at least one individual top-three finish. Estes led a group of five women who each won at least two events. She scored 20.75 points with wins in the 200-meter freestyle (2:17.04), the 100-meter backstroke (1:13.59) and, along with teammates Erin Poynter (Fort Collins, CO/Ft. Collins), Erin Motzer (Libertyville, IL/Libertyville) and Emily Woods (Signal Mountain, TN/Girls Prep), the 400-meter medley relay (4:49.57). Motzer also won the 200-meter individual medley (2:44.58) and the 400-meter freestyle (4:53.31), Woods the 100-meter butterfly (1:13.14) and Poynter the 800-meter freestyle (10:06.08). Dana Tate (Appleton, WI/East) contributed 18 points with wins in both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving competitions. Finally, Celeste Plautz (Downers Grove, IL/Downers Grove South) added 13 points by winning the 100-meter freestyle (1:07.89) and placing second in the 200-meter individual medley (2:49.23). The Foresters will travel to Grand
Rapids, Michigan, Saturday for a dual meet at Calvin College. It will be
their final tune-up before they head to Lawrence University for the Midwest
Conference Championship Meet February 15-17.
