GALESBURG, IL - It was a battle throughout, but the Lake Forest College volleyball team escaped Galesburg with a 25-30, 30-21, 30-26, 30-20 win over Midwest Conference opponent Knox College Friday night (October 19).

In a match in which they struggled with serve receive and ball control, the Foresters never truly got on track. They used 11 blocks to partially offset 17 receiving errors and, though their hitting percentage was only .227, they posted 61 kills compared to 39 for Knox. The team's four seniors showed their experience, coming up big in a variety of ways to spark the victory.

Setter Leslie Boyle (Chicago Heights, IL/Marian Catholic) was the inspirational leader, tallying 46 assists and 7 digs despite sustaining a hand injury in game two. Right side hitter Chrissy Laurine (Richmond, IL/Richmond-Burton) was a defensive standout, recording 12 digs and a season-high 6 blocks to go along with her nine kills.

Middle blockers Stephanie Reinboldt (McHenry, IL/Marian Central Catholic) and Angela Lagerman (Menomonee Falls, WI/Menomonee Falls) produced both offensively and defensively. Reinboldt pounded out 19 kills and had 14 digs and 5 blocks, while Lagerman totaled 12 kills and 5 blocks.

The Foresters won't have time to rest since they turn around and host Midwest Conference foe Illinois College at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 20. They'll look for their seventh conference win and 18th overall, which would maintain their second-place standing in the Midwest Conference with just one match remaining.
