Foresters Fall in Five at Monmouth College
Baich records 21 kills, three aces, seven blocks

Monmouth, Ill. - The Lake Forest College volleyball team traveled to Monmouth College Thursday (October 19) and fell to the Fighting Scots 32-30, 28-30, 28-30, 30-21, 15-10. The Foresters’ overall record on the year is now 13-12 and the team is 5-2 in Midwest Conference play. Monmouth raised its overall record to 16-11 and its league mark to 4-4.

Junior Nicole Baich (Westchester, Ill./Nazareth Academy) led the visitors with 21 kills, three aces, and seven blocks, including four solos. It was her third consecutive match with at least 20 kills and she is now just seven total blocks and two solos shy of the single-season school records in both categories.

Freshman Lindsey Grauman (St. Paul, Minn./Visitation) was next on the Foresters with nine kills and junior Merissa Martin (Vernon Hills, Ill./Vernon Hills) had eight. Both players also added 16 digs. Senior Kendra Casey (Wauwatosa, Wis./Wauwatosa West) tallied 48 assists and chipped in with a dozen digs and sophomore Lisa Sturgill (Sheboygan, Wis./Sheboygan South) recorded 40 digs, the third-highest total in team history.

Lake Forest will continue league play at home Saturday (October 21) afternoon at 1:00 against Grinnell College.
