Foresters Fall at Home to St. Norbert College

LAKE FOREST, Ill. - The Lake Forest College volleyball team fell 30-26, 30-23, 30-27 to visiting St. Norbert College Saturday (October 20) afternoon. The Foresters fell to 7-16 overall and 2-4 in Midwest Conference matches while the Green Knights raised their overall record to 22-3 and league mark to 7-1.

Senior Merissa Martin (Vernon Hills, Ill./Vernon Hills) led the Foresters with 12 kills and committed just two errors in 28 attempts for a .357 hitting percentage. Classmate Nicole Baich (Westchester, Ill./Nazareth Academy) was next on the squad with nine kills. Junior Ashleigh Martinez (Chula Vista, Calif./Hilltop) led the team’s two setters with 27 assists. Martin and junior Ashley Cretacci (Mundelein, Ill./Mundelein) recorded two aces apiece.

Martin also paced the squad with 18 digs. Junior Lisa Sturgill (Sheboygan, Wis./Sheboygan South) was next with 16 and Cretacci added 10. Baich and freshman Mandi Mulliner (Elmhurst, Ill./York) each had three blocks.

The Foresters will play their final home match of the season Wednesday (October 24) night against Knox College. The contest will begin at 7:00 p.m.
