Lake Forest Tops Wheaton College in Four Games
Balcerzak leads team in kills for second straight match

WHEATON, IL - The Forester volleyball team traveled to Wheaton College Tuesday (October 26) night and returned home with a 29-31, 33-31, 31-29, 30-24 victory. Lake Forest is now 16-11 on the season while the Thunder’s record falls to 14-20.

After posting a .591 hitting percentage and leading the Foresters with 13 kills in a three-game match on Saturday against Grinnell College, sophomore Janelle Balcerzak (Milwaukee, WI/Pius XI) continued her stellar play with a team-high 19 kills on Tuesday. She committed just one error in 31 attempts for a .581 hitting percentage. Balcerzak also added three blocks and an ace, leaving her just two aces shy of the school record of 65.

Senior Andrea Krueger (Tinley Park, IL/Andrew) tallied 46 assists in the match and chipped in with a dozen digs. With a team-high 31 digs on Tuesday, junior Meghan Miller (Williams Bay, WI/Williams Bay) moved into second place in the program’s record books with 1,362 in her career, six shy of the school record. Senior Amy Krueger (Tinley Park, IL/Andrew) reached double figures in both kills (14) and digs (24) and trails Miller’s career digs total by just 14.

The Foresters will play again Thursday (October 28) night at 7:00 at Elmhurst College, the 23rd-ranked team in the nation (American Volleyball Coaches Association). The team will then conclude the regular season with a home match Saturday (October 30) morning against Concordia University (IL).
