Foresters Claim South Division's Top Seed With Two Road Wins
Lake Forest knocks off Monmouth and Illinois College

LAKE FOREST, IL - Lake Forest College will defend the Midwest Conference championship as the South Division's top seed after picking up road wins over Monmouth College (IL) on Friday and Illinois College on Saturday. 

The Foresters (20-5) have won two of the last three MWC titles, including last year's trophy. This year's Conference Championship Tournament will be hosted by Monmouth on Friday and Saturday, November 3-4. 

On Friday versus Monmouth, Lake Forest used a balanced attack to knock off the Fighting Scots in three games (15-3, 15-9, 15-5). Eight players recorded eight or more kills, led by Amanda Taylor's (Chico, CA/Pleasant Valley) nine put-aways. Jenny Anderson (Sebastopol, CA/El Molino), Stephanie Reinboldt (McHenry, IL/Marian Central Catholic), and Chrissy Laurine (Richmond, IL/Richmond-Burton) contributed eight kills apiece. Laurine (.375) and Reinboldt (389) both hit .375 or higher and had 10 digs. Sarah Frantz (Lake Geneva, WI/Badger) had 32 assists and three aces from her setter position.

Junior Angela Lagerman (Menomonee Falls, WI/Menomonee Falls) supplied the bulk of the offense during Saturday's win over IC, 15-10, 15-12, 15-6. She pounded a team-high 19 kills with just two errors for a .548 hitting percentage. Fellow middle blocker Reinboldt added 16 kills and 12 digs, while Anderson had 14 digs and Frantz dished out in 41 assists.
