Lisa Sturgill
GALESBURG, Ill. - The Forester volleyball team traveled to Knox College on Tuesday (October 28) and defeated the Prairie Fire 25-20, 25-23, 19-25, 25-23. Lake Forest is now 8-18 overall this season and 4-4 in Midwest Conference play. Knox fell to 4-14 overall and finished the MWC portion of its schedule at 2-7.

Senior Ashley Cretacci (Mundelein, Ill./Mundelein) led the Foresters with 10 kills and five blocks in the match. Classmate Amy Chappuis (Ann Arbor, Mich./Ann Arbor Huron) was next on the squad with eight kills. Sophomore Deena Blanchard (Sparta, Mich./Sparta) had a team-high 13 assists and senior Lisa Sturgill (Sheboygan, Wis./Sheboygan South) led all players in the match with 29 digs. Sturgill's 685 digs on the year are a new school record, surpassing the previous mark of 668 set by Meghan Miller in 2004. They are the only two players in team history to record 600 or more digs in a season with Sturgill performing the feat four times and Miller twice.

The Foresters will close out the regular season at home against Ripon College Saturday (November 1) at 1:00 p.m. Lake Forest needs a victory to earn a berth in the four-team MWC Tournament. Live video webcasts of the match will be available at www.midwestconference.tv.
