Foresters Close Out Regular Season with MWC Victory at Grinnell
Team will play in conference tournament next weekend
Nicole Baich leads the Foresters with 371 kills and 109 blocks.

GRINNELL, IA - The Lake Forest College volleyball team completed the 2005 regular season with a three-game (30-17, 30-20, 30-22) Midwest Conference win at Grinnell College on Saturday (October 29). The Foresters are now 18-11 overall and 8-1 in league play. The Pioneers fell to 5-25 overall and 2-7 in the conference.

Sophomore Nicole Baich (Westchester, IL/Nazareth Academy) posted a match-high 20 kills and five blocks, including three solos. She committed just a pair of attack errors in 34 attempts and finished the match with a .529 hitting percentage. Junior Janelle Balcerzak (Milwaukee, WI/Pius XI) was next on the team with nine kills and led the squad with three aces. Junior Kendra Casey (Wauwatosa, WI/Wauwatosa West) tallied 34 assists to surpass the 1,100 mark on the year.

Senior Meghan Miller (Williams Bay, WI/Williams Bay) led the team with 23 digs and freshman Lisa Sturgill (Sheboygan, WI/Sheboygan South) added 17. They are both closing in on 600 digs for the year.

The Foresters will be the #3 seed in the six-team MWC Tournament next weekend (November 4-5) at league champion St. Norbert College. Lake Forest and #6 Ripon College will face off in round one at 4:00 Friday afternoon with the winner taking on #2 Monmouth College at 7:00 p.m. The tournament final is scheduled for Saturday afternoon at 1:00.
