ELMHURST, IL - A balanced offensive attack has been a trademark of the successful Lake Forest volleyball teams over the last five years. On Thursday night the Foresters learned that it is a necessity when facing a team the caliber of nationally ranked Elmhurst College, who entered the match with a 20-2 overall record.

Senior Angela Lagerman (Menomonee Falls, WI/Menomonee Falls) had an outstanding match and teamed with fellow senior Stephanie Reinboldt (McHenry, IL/Marian Central) to record 8 blocks and 23 kills (only 4 errors) in 43 attempts for a hitting percentage of .442 from the middle blocker position. The Foresters couldn't generate much offense from the outside, however, and they dropped a 26-30, 21-30, 25-30 decision to the Bluejays.

Despite the loss, Head Coach Beth Pier was pleased with the team's production in the middle. "The timing between Angela and Leslie (Boyle) was fantastic and that is a good sign going into our tournament this weekend," commented Pier. Lagerman's individual totals included 14 kills and 5 blocks and Boyle (Chicago Heights, IL/Marian Catholic) tallied 29 assists.

The team will take an overall record of 11-10 into Saturday's annual Forester Invitational. Pool play begins at 10:00 a.m. with Lake Forest facing Concordia University and Kendall College taking on North Park University. Beloit College and Coe College round out the six-team field. The championship match is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
