LAKE FOREST, IL - With victories over Concordia University (IL), Coe College and North Park University on Saturday (October 6th), the Lake Forest College volleyball team claimed the Forester Invitational Championship for the second straight year, the seventh in the last ten years, and the eighth time in the 18 years the tournament has been held. The three wins raise the team's 2001 record to 14-10.

The first match of the day was against Concordia University (IL) and the Foresters won in four games (30-22, 30-10, 28-30, 30-16). Senior setter Leslie Boyle (Chicago Heights, IL/Marian Catholic) led the team with 52 assists and 11 digs. Senior Angela Lagerman (Menomonee Falls, WI/Menomonee Falls) and sophomore Jenny Anderson (Sebastopol, CA/El Molino) each had 14 kills in the match.

Lake Forest's next opponent was Coe College, who they also needed four games to defeat (30-17, 30-28, 25-30, 30-20). Boyle was again the team leader in both assists (39) and digs (13). Lagerman had 15 more kills without an error in 21 attempts. Senior Stephanie Reinboldt (McHenry, IL/Marian Central Catholic) recorded 13 kills and four aces and sophomore Stephanie Metzger (Chicago, IL/Lane Tech) and senior Chrissy Laurine (Richmond, IL/Richmond-Burton) each had 11 kills.

The pair of wins gave the Foresters first place in the red pool. Coe had defeated Concordia earlier to place second and Concordia was third. North Park University collected victories over both Kendall College and Beloit College to take the top spot in the black pool. Kendall defeated Beloit to take second place, leaving Beloit in third.

The two third place teams, Concordia and Beloit, faced off with Concordia winning in four games to place fifth overall in the tournament. In the battle for third overall, Kendall defeated Coe in three games.

Lake Forest needed just three games to dispose of North Park in the championship match (30-23, 30-25, 30-25). Boyle had 48 more assists, giving her 139 for the day. Anderson led the squad with 12 kills, 18 digs and 3 aces. Reinboldt (11), Laurine (11) and Metzger (10) also reached double-digits again in kills.

Following the tournament, six players were named to the All-Tournament team, including the Foresters' Reinboldt and Lagerman. Lagerman led the team with 12 blocks and 37 kills on the day with just 5 errors for a .552 hitting percentage. Reinboldt tallied 35 kills and a .371 hitting percentage to go with 8 aces, 26 digs and 6 blocks.
