October 7, 2006 Contact: Mike Wajerski, SID Lake Forest Defeats Knox Splits Two Matches at Forester Invitational
Senior Janelle Balcerzak (Milwaukee, Wis./Pius XI) and Junior Nicole Baich (Westchester, Ill./Nazareth Academy) tied for the team lead with 11 kills apiece against Knox. Baich also led the squad with four aces and Balcerzak had a pair of blocks. Senior Kendra Casey (Wauwatosa, Wis./ Wauwatosa West) recorded 25 assists and freshman Lindsey Grauman (St. Paul, Minn./Visitation) had a team-high 13 digs. Although sophomore Lisa Sturgill (Sheboygan, Wis./Sheboygan South) registered a season-low nine digs in the match, the final one was the 1,000th of her career. Baich and Balcerzak had nine and eight kills, respectively, against North Park. Balcerzak also led the Foresters with six aces, including the 200th of her career, and four blocks. Casey tallied 19 assists and 10 digs and Sturgill led the team with 15 digs. Junior Merissa Martin’s (Vernon Hills, Ill./Vernon Hills) five digs in the match gave her 1,000 in her career. Sophomore Ashley Cretacci (Mundelein, Ill./Mundelein) led Lake Forest with eight kills against Oshkosh while Balcerzak and Baich each had seven. Martin recorded three aces and Casey had 25 assists. Sturgill and Martin led the team with 19 and 13 digs, respectively.
