Lake Forest Begins Conference Play with Victory at Home over Carroll
Ashley Cretacci and Mandi Mulliner combine for 22 kills

LAKE FOREST, Ill. - The Forester volleyball team defeated visiting Carroll University 25-20, 25-22, 25-20 in the home team's first Midwest Conference match of the season Tuesday night (October 7). Lake Forest raised its overall record to 4-14 while the Lady Pioneers fell to 6-13 overall and 2-5 in league play.

Senior Ashley Cretacci (Mundelein, Ill./Mundelein) led the team with a dozen kills and added three aces, 16 digs, and three blocks. Sophomore Mandi Mulliner (Elmhurst, Ill./York) was next on the squad with 10 kills. Classmate Deena Blanchard (Sparta, Mich./Sparta) led the Forester setters with a dozen assists and, along with Cretacci, senior Lisa Sturgill (Sheboygan, Wis./Sheboygan South) and freshman Theresa Converse (Warrentown, Va./Notre Dame Academy) reached double figures with 17 and 10 digs, respectively.

The Foresters will continue Midwest Conference play Friday evening (October 10) at 6:30 when they play host to Beloit College. Lake Forest will then board a bus bound for Grinnell College and take on the Pioneers Saturday afternoon (October 11) at 1:00.
