LAKE FOREST, IL - It may have been that Homecoming week provided extra incentive for the Lake Forest College volleyball team. Or maybe it was the fact that the Foresters were opening up Midwest Conference South Division play. Whatever the motivation, the team began clicking the minute the players hit the floor and played solidly throughout a 30-17, 30-27, 28-30, 30-22 win over Monmouth College.

Senior setter Leslie Boyle (Chicago Heights, IL/Marian Catholic) led the way for the Foresters, recording 59 assists and 26 digs. The key to the match, though, was the balance with which she distributed the ball to her hitters. Four of them reached double figures in kills and three recorded a hitting percentage of .353 or better. For the match Lake Forest hit .316 (69 kills and 19 errors in 158 attempts) compared to .112 (46 kills and 28 errors in 161 attempts) for Monmouth.

Two of the four hitters who registered double-digit kills were also key players defensively. In addition to her team-high 20 kills, senior Stephanie Reinboldt (McHenry, IL/Marian Central Catholic) had 4 blocks and 11 digs, while fellow middle blocker Angela Lagerman (Menomonee Falls, WI/Menomonee Falls) added 5 blocks and 15 kills. Sophomore outside hitters Jenny Anderson (Sebastopol, CA/El Molino) and Stephanie Metzger (Chicago, IL/Lane Tech) chipped in 14 and 11 kills, respectively.

The fifth conference win for the Foresters improves their overall record to 15-10. Next up on their schedule is a non-conference match at Augustana College Thursday, October 11. The Vikings are currently 15-3 and ranked third in the Midwest Region (NCAA Division III).
