Lisa Sturgill Sets School Record for Digs in Four-Set Loss at Elmhurst
45 digs is three more than the mark she set two years ago

ELMHURST, Ill. - The Lake Forest College volleyball team traveled to Elmhurst College on Thursday (September 18) and fell 25-21, 25-21, 14-25, 25-9. The Foresters are now 2-7 on the season while the Bluejays raised their record to 6-4.

Sophomore Mandi Mulliner (Elmhurst, Ill./York) and senior Ashley Cretacci (Mundelein, Ill./Mundelein) tied for team-high honors with seven kills apiece. Cretacci alsoled the squad with three aces and added 13 digs while Mulliner posted a .333 hitting percentage and chipped in with three solo blocks. Sophomore Deena Blanchard (Sparta, Mich./Sparta) led the team's two setters with 14 assists.

Senior Lisa Sturgill (Sheboygan, Wis./Sheboygan South) broke her own school record with 45 digs in the contest. She had she previous mark of 42 in another four-set match against Franklin College on September 1, 2006. She entered the week ranked second in the nation with exactly seven digs per set. Freshman Theresa Converse (Warrentown, Va./Notre Dame Academy) was next on the team on Thursday with a career-high 16 digs.

Lake Forest will play a pair of matches on Saturday (September 20) at North Park University where the Foresters will face the hosts at 11:00 a.m. and Loras College at 1:30 p.m.
