Foresters Defeat Concordia for Second Time in Four Days
Baich lead the team with 16 kills

Nicole Baich leads the team with 152 kills and 37 blocks this year.
RIVER FOREST, IL - The Lake Forest College volleyball team traveled to Concordia University (IL) Tuesday (September 20) and came away with a 30-28, 30-13, 30-24 victory. The Foresters are now 8-4 on the year while the Cougars fell to 2-12. Lake Forest also defeated Concordia in three games on Saturday (September 17) at Wheaton College’s Thunder Classic.

Sophomore Nicole Baich (Westchester, IL/Nazareth Academy) led the Foresters with 16 kills. She had just three attack errors in 28 attempts for a .464 hitting percentage. Baich also added two assists, three aces, and a pair of blocks in the contest. Junior Savanna Shumaker (Bristol, WI/Westosha Central) was next on the squad with eight kills and led the team with four aces.

Junior setter Kendra Casey (Wauwatosa, WI/Wauwatosa West) tallied 33 assists in the match and freshmen Synneve Yoder (Murray, NE/Conestoga) and Lisa Sturgill (Sheboygan, WI/Sheboygan South) led the Foresters with 14 and 13 digs, respectively. Junior Janelle Balcerzak (Milwaukee, WI/Pius XI) paced the squad with five blocks and added three aces.

Lake Forest will compete in the first Midwest Conference Crossover of the season this weekend (September 24-25) at Beloit College. The Foresters will take on Ripon College at 1:00 Saturday afternoon and Carroll College at 7:00 that evening. They will also face St. Norbert College on Sunday at 11:00 a.m.
