Foresters Fall in Five Games to Wheaton
Team’s record drops to 2-3

LAKE FOREST, Ill. - The Lake Forest College volleyball team was defeated by visiting Wheaton College 27-30, 29-31, 30-25, 30-9, 15-9 Tuesday night (September 4). The Foresters fell to 2-3 on the season while the Thunder raised their record to 3-2.

A pair of Lake Forest players reached double figures in kills. Senior Nicole Baich (Westchester, Ill./Nazareth Academy) pounded out 12 in the match while junior Ashley Cretacci (Mundelein, Ill./Mundelein) added 10. Baich also recorded a team-high three blocks.

Junior Ashleigh Martinez (Chula Vista, Calif./Hilltop) recorded a career-high 36 assists and was one of four players on the squad in double figures with 16 digs. Senior Merissa Martin (Vernon Hills, Ill./Vernon Hills) led the team with 29, freshman Rachael Peli (Granger, Ind./Clay) had a career-high 26, and junior Lisa Sturgill (Sheboygan, Wis./Sheboygan South) tallied 22.

The Foresters will be back in action at home Thursday (September 6) night at 7:00 against Elmhurst College. On Saturday (September 8) the team will travel to Wisconsin Lutheran College to take on the Milwaukee School of Engineering at 1:00 p.m. and the hosts at 3:00.
