Volleyball Knocks Off Carthage in Season Opener
Lake Forest claims road victory in three games

KENOSHA, WI - Lake Forest College opened their 2000 volleyball season in impressive fashion with a three-game win (15-8, 15-11, 16-14) at Carthage College on Wednesday (September 6th). 

It was Lake Forest's (1-0) first action since the 1999 NCAA Tournament, where LF fell to Mount Saint Joseph's in five games during the round of 32.

Carthage (4-2) lost for just the second time in six matches.

Junior Chrissy Laurine (Richmond, IL/Richmond-Burton) led Lake Forest with 10 kills. She also added three aces and eight digs. Stephanie Reinboldt (McHenry, IL/Marian Central Catholic) added eight kills, five digs, and two blocks, while Angela Lagerman (Menomonee Falls, WI/Menomonee Falls) had seven kills and four blocks while hitting .636.

Other contributors for the Foresters included Leslie Boyle (Chicago Heights, IL/Marian Catholic) with a team-high 12 digs and Amanda Taylor (Chico, CA/Pleasant Valley) with five aces, tops on the squad. Sarah Frantz (Lake Geneva, WI/Badger) dished out a match-high 39 assists.

Shelli Cupik led Carthage with 10 kills, while Tara Diehl had a match-high 17 digs.

Lake Forest's next action will come this weekend at the Illinois Wesleyan Tournament, where the Foresters will play two matches on Friday (September 8th) and two more on Saturday.
