MWC COACHES RANK LAKE FOREST FIRST IN PRE-SEASON POLL
Lake Forest, the 1998-99 Midwest Conference regular
season champion, has been tabbed as the favorite for the 1999-2000 MWC
race by a pre-season poll of the league's coaches. The Foresters compiled
a 20-3 overall record last season, including a 15-1 MWC mark, but were
upset at home in the semifinals of the 1999 Conference Tournament. Last
year's tournament champs, Lawrence, is picked to finish second.
The Foresters return three starters, all of whom were First Team
All-Conference picks last year, from the 1998-99 squad. Alison
Grubbs (Cullom, IL/Tri-Point High School), Melissa
Schneider (Arlington Heights, IL/John Hersey H.S.), and Addi
Murphy (Chillicothe, IL/Illinois Valley Central H.S.) were each named
First Team All-MWC in 1998-99.
Lake Forest also appeared in the top 40 of
the Division III Basketball Online
pre-season poll. The Foresters received 24 votes, the 38th highest point
total in the nation.
