GIS, or Geographic Information Systems, is a collection of computer hardware, software, and geographic data for capturing, managing, analyzing, and displaying all forms of geographically referenced information. GIS is used to display people, locations, data, and more on a map so that we can gain a better understanding of our surroundings. GIS is used in all walks of life, from economics to agriculture to literature. In addition, GIS is used both in the classroom and in businesses for learning and practical purposes.
The GIS Link Exchange is a collection of schools and colleges throughout the United States who are interested in coming together and sharing their resources with one another so that GIS can be implemented in classrooms across the nation. Members have access to a private forum for uploading and downloading labs, for asking questions and receiving help, and more.
