Coaching Staff Brent Holsclaw Offensive Coordinator/Quarterbacks Coach Needing a fresh approach on the offensive side of the ball, Head Coach Chad Eisele hired Brent Holsclaw during the summer of 2001 to be his offensive coordinator. Eisele knew that Holsclaw's offensive system was an exciting one, and more importantly, had proven to be successful. In Holsclaw's first year at Lake Forest, the Foresters passed for more yards than they ever had before. In 2002, he will not only call the offensive plays, but will also coach the quarterbacks. Before his hiring at Lake Forest, Holsclaw spent five seasons at Mercyhurst College, an NCAA Division II school in Erie, Pennsylvania. He took over the offensive coordinator role at Mercyhurst prior to the 1998 season. Holsclaw's offenses were among the finest in the nation during his tenure as coordinator. His teams were ranked third (1999), fourth (1998), and 26th (2000) for total offense. Also in 2000, Mercyhurst ranked eighth in passing and the team's starting quarterback finished fifth in the nation for total offense. In both 1998 and 1999, his offenses ranked among the nation's top four in passing. Prior to taking over the playing-calling duties at Mercyhurst, Holsclaw was the team's quarterbacks (1996) and offensive line coach (1997). One of his offensive tackles was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the ninth round of the 1998 NFL draft. He also served as head junior varsity coach (1996-97) and NCAA Clearinghouse officer at Mercyhurst. Prior to his stint at Mercyhurst, Holsclaw spent two seasons at Fairdale High School as the school's offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. Holsclaw is a 1993 graduate of Kentucky Wesleyan College in Owensboro,
Kentucky. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in pre-law and criminal justice
and was named a GTE Academic All-American and a Don Hansen's Football Gazette
NCAA Division II All-American as a senior. Holsclaw was KWC's captain and
Most Valuable Player
