Coaching Staff Mike Dau '58 Running Backs Coach Coach Dau, a Lake Forest College Athletic Hall of Famer, is in his 46th season with the Lake Forest football program after four years as a player, 24 as the head coach, and 17 as an assistant. He helped Lake Forest capture a conference title while serving in each of those roles (1957, 1983, 2002). In 1957, Dau was the Most Valuable Player for the Forester's CCI championship squad. He was also named to the Little All-America team as an offensive lineman. In 1983, Dau guided the Foresters to a 7-2 record and the 1983 Midwest Collegiate Athletic Conference championship as the team's head coach. The squad's victory total tied the school record for most wins a season, a mark that was broken by the 2002 Midwest Conference Championship team. Dau served as the team's head coach from 1966-91 and won more games than any other coach in school history. He has spent 13 of the last 14 years as the Foresters' running backs coach and coached a First Team All-MWC back during six of those seasons. Dau, the College's athletic director from 1975-91, also directs the Forester handball team and has coached baseball, basketball, and track. Under Dau's direction, the Forester handball program has collected 33 collegiate national championships. Dau was inducted to the Lake Forest College Athletic Hall of Fame in 1977 and the United States Handball Association Hall of Fame in 1988. Coach Dau and his wife, Paula, live in Lake Forest.
