Four to be Inducted into Forester Athletic Hall of Fame on Saturday
Swimming & Diving Alumni also to be honored during Affinity Reunion

LAKE FOREST, Ill. - The Lake Forest College Athletic Hall of Fame will grow by four members on Saturday (October 4) as part of the College's Homecoming festivities. The inductees include Eric Drometer '92 from men's soccer, former professional cyclist Robbie Ventura '94, Anna Panighetti '98 from volleyball and swimming, and current Athletic Director and former basketball coach Jackie Slaats.

Drometer is the only Forester men's soccer player since the College joined the Midwest Conference in 1974 to earn first team all-conference honors four times. He helped lead the team to a 36-17-7 overall record and 18-4-2 mark in league play during his career and was the squad's Most Valuable Player as a junior. Lake Forest captured a conference title his senior season and he finished his career with 48 points on 14 goals and 20 assists.

Ventura had his collegiate hockley career cut short by a shoulder injury but went on to an extremely successful career in cycling. He won more than 70 races in 12 years as a professional, the final four on the U.S. Postal Service Team. He has also served as a television commentator during the Tour de France and helped hundreds of professional and amateur cyclists and tri-athletes through Vision Quest Coaching, which he founded in 2000.

Panighetti was a four-time first team all-conference volleyball player and helped lead the Foresters to a 70-32 overall record during her four seasons. She was the team's captain and MVP in 1997 when the squad claimed the first conference title in program history. Panighetti also competed on three conference championship swimming & diving teams, won a conference title of her own in the 200-backstroke, and advanced to the national meet in that event.

Slaats, who is in her 17th year as Lake Forest's Athletic Director, was also the Foresters' volleyball coach from 1986-92 and the women's basketball coach from 1986-2008. She was 386-133 overall and 220-71 in league play as a basketball coach and led the Foresters to six conference championhips. She was named MWC Coach of the Year six times and her .743 career winning percentage ranks among the top 20 in NCAA Division III history.

The Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will take place at Calvin Durand Hall in the Mohr Student Center at 10:00 Saturday morning. The inductees will also be honored during the Homecoming Parade at 11:30 a.m. and at halftime of the football game against Beloit College, which begins at 1:30 p.m.

In addition to the College's newest Hall of Famers, Forester swimming & diving alumni and former coaches will also be honored this weekend as part of the 2008 Affinity Reunion. They are invited to a reception and dinner in the Tiernan Trophy Room in the Sports Center beginning at 6:30 Friday (October 3) evening and will be recognized at halftime of the football game on Saturday. Those who wish may also attend or even participate in the current swimming & diving team's practice Saturday morning.
