Eric Boarini and Erin Colwell were double winners for the Foresters.
LAKE FOREST, IL - The Lake Forest College swimming and diving teams gave their fans plenty to cheer about Saturday (February 8) as they celebrated Parents' Day, Alumni Day and Senior Day. Every competitor scored and twelve Foresters combined to win 14 individual events as both the men's and women's teams beat the Illinois Institute of Technology. The men's final was 109-82, while the women outscored the Scarlet Hawks 124-68.

Four seniors claimed a victory in the final home meet of their careers. Eric Boarini (Wadsworth, IL/Carmel) was one of two double winners for the Foresters, taking both the 100- (55.38) and 200-meter (2:02.69) freestyles to lead the men with 18 points. Anthony Laurino (Wichita, KS/Wichita East) won the 800 free in 9:26.90 and Erin Motzer (Libertyville, IL/Libertyville) was victorious in the 200-meter individual medley (2:41.11). Dana Tate (Appleton, WI/Appleton East) scored a season-high 208.20 points to close out her dual meet career with a win in the 1-meter diving competition.

The Forester men had three juniors who registered a win in a 200-meter event. Jeremy Koop (Newton, KS/Newton) touched the wall first in the individual medley (2:30.34), Aaron Lawlor (Vernon Hills, IL/Libertyville) in the butterfly (2:22.08) and Brady Lowdermilk (Parker, CO/Regis) in the backstroke (2:17.76). The men's sixth individual winner, freshman Colin Beres (Ovilla, TX/Anoka), clocked a 26.74 in the 50-meter freestyle to win by two hundredths of a second.

Joining Boarini as a double winner was first-year swimmer Erin Colwell (Northfield, MN/Northfield), who also scored 18 points to lead her team. She was victorious in the 200-meter butterfly (2:35.70) and the 800-meter freestyle (10:13.74).

The last three of the twelve Forester winners scored at least 13 points each. Sophomore Emily Woods (Signal Mountain, TN/Girls Prep) took the 200-meter backstroke in 2:41.60 and first-year swimmer Marie Pool (Redding, CA/Central Valley) raced to a win in the 100-meter freestyle (1:03.48). With a victory in the 3-meter event (196.30 points), junior Julie Weglarz (Phoenix, AZ/Xavier College Prep) completed a Lake Forest sweep of the diving competitions.

Saturday's win gives both the men's and women's teams a 3-2 record in dual meets. The Foresters will now make final preparations for the Midwest Conference Championship Meet at Grinnell College Friday through Sunday (February 14-16). Head Coach Alec Webster believes the team is ready to compete for the conference's top spot. "Our seniors have been our leaders all season and they know what the conference meet is all about. As a team we're in great shape physically, and I know that those leaders will help put us in the right frame of mind to put forth our best efforts of the year."
