Forester Swimmers at Wheaton
The aforementioned seniors each scored at least 28 points and combined to score 128 for the Foresters. The highlight was Erin Motzer's (Libertyville, IL/Libertyville) second-place finish in the 200-yard butterfly. Her national B-cut qualifying time of 2:12.01 is the fastest by a Midwest Conference swimmer this season and the 24th fastest in the NCAA (Division III). Motzer also placed seventh in the 500-yard freestyle (5:34.64) and led the team in scoring with 35 points. Motzer's classmates who added top-eight finishes were Erin Poynter (Fort Collins, CO/Ft. Collins), Brandon Johnson (Phoenix, AZ/Brophy) and Eric Boarini (Wadsworth, IL/Carmel). Poynter was sixth in both the 500 free (5:33.16) and the 200-yard individual medley (2:20.91). Johnson claimed third in the 1000-yard freestyle (10:29.60) and eighth in the 500 free (5:03.20), recording season-best times in both races. Boarini's season-best times in the 200-yard (1:49.35) and100-yard (49.67) freestyles were good enough for seventh and eighth, respectively. Four other swimmers recorded top-six finishes for the Foresters, led by freshman Genia Lindsey (Albuquerque, NM/Sandia), who was second in the 1000 free with a season-best time of 11:11.47. Fellow first-year swimmers Liz Eberlein (Troy, MI/Marian) and Erin Colwell (Northfield, MN/Northfield) also turned in their top times of the season, placing fifth in the 1000 free (11:33.67) and sixth in the 200-yard butterfly (2:18.29), respectively. Junior Brady Lowdermilk (Parker, CO/Regis) earned sixth-place points by clocking a time of 2:04.68 in the 200-yard backstroke, the second-fastest time by a Midwest Conference swimmer this season. Lake Forest Head Coach Alec
Webster feels good about his teams and knows the quality competition
they're facing will be a big plus as they prepare for the MWC Championship
in February. He commented, "We're right where we want to be before we rest.
I'm especially pleased with the leadership and effort of our senior class
and feel we're on track for a strong performance at conference."
