Lake Forest Wins Convincingly at Marian College
Team records season-high 11 aces in just three games

FOND DU LAC, Wis. - The Forester volleyball team posted a 30-14, 30-18, 30-25 victory at Marian College Tuesday (September 11) night. Lake Forest is now 4-5 on the season and Marian’s overall record fell to 2-8.

Junior Ashley Cretacci (Mundelein, Ill./Mundelein) and freshman Mandi Mulliner (Elmhurst, Ill./York) led the visitors in kills with 11 and 10, respectively. Junior Ashleigh Martinez (Chula Vista, Calif./Hilltop) played the first two games and led the squad with 20 assists. Sophomore Nicole Leonard (Thousand Oaks, Calif./Chaminade College Prep.) and senior Nicole Baich (Westchester, Ill./Nazareth Academy) each had three of the team’s season-high 11 aces while Mulliner and senior Merissa Martin (Vernon Hills, Ill./Vernon Hills) chipped in with two apiece.

Defensively, junior Lisa Sturgill (Sheboygan, Wis./Sheboygan South) paced the squad with 20 digs and Martin added 14. Baich had a hand in six of the Foresters’ nine blocks and Mulliner was in on three.

Lake Forest will play twice at home on Saturday (September 15). The Foresters will host North Central College at 10:00 a.m., North Central and Benedictine University will play at noon, and Lake Forest and Benedictine will face off at 2:00 p.m.
