News & Notes Contact: Scott Rucker, SID Perconti, a First Team All-Midwest Conference selection in 1999 and 1998, led Lake Forest with 102 tackles (54 solo and 48 assists), 19 tackles for losses, and 7.0 sacks this season. He also had an interception. His tackles total was the tenth-highest single season total in school history. On the conference level, Perconti finished tied for third in the league with 0.78 sacks per game (7.0 sacks in 9 games) and tied for fifth with 92 tackles in league play. Of the top 15 tacklers in the MWC, he was one of just three to have more solo tackles than assists. He was a Third Team All-West region and pre-season All-region pick by Don Hansen's Football Gazette. Hennings, also a First Team All-Conference honoree, led an offensive line that propelled the Foresters to 240.1 rushing yards per game, the 17th highest average in the nation. The team's 251 rushing yards per MWC game was the second highest total in the conference. Receiving their First Team All-Midwest Conference awards were Perconti, Hennings, senior defensive lineman Jay Biondo (Barrington, IL/Barrington H.S.), sophomore punter Pat Dunne (Chicago, IL/Marist H.S.). Second Team honorees included Dunne as a kicker, senior running back Tyrome Bembry (Hamilton, OH/Culver Academy), and senior tight end John Litscher (Lake Mills, WI/Lake Mills H.S.). Five Forester seniors - quarterback Tom Dranger (Sauk Village, IL/Marian Catholic H.S.), Hansen, defensive lineman Dustin Cassady (Morton, IL/Morton H.S.), linebacker Andy O'Hara (South Bend, IN/Riley H.S.), and defensive back David Smith (Barrington, IL/Barrington H.S.) - were named to the Honorable Mention squad. Academic All-Conference awards were distributed to senior Brent Blaudow (Morton, IL/Morton H.S.), juniors Chad Carroll (Manchesny Park, IL/Harlem H.S.), Jake Fisher (Kalona, IA/Mid Prairie Community H.S.), and Steve Halle (Palatine, IL/St. Viator H.S.), and sophomore Ryan Paulsen (Des Plaines, IL/Maine West H.S.). |
