LAKE FOREST, Ill. - Lake Forest College volleyball player Lisa Sturgill (Sheboygan, Wis./Sheboygan South) was named Forester Athlete of the Week on Thursday (September 4) for her performance in the team’s first five matches of the season.

Sturgill was also named Midwest Conference Performer of the Week after recording 102 digs as Lake Forest split four matches at the season-opening Wisconsin Lutheran College Invite last weekend. She had 24 in both matches on Friday, added 17 in Saturday’s first contest, and broke her own 3-set school record with 37 later that afternoon.

On Tuesday the senior led the team in digs for the fifth time in as many matches as the Foresters fell in three sets at Wheaton College. She had 17 in the contest and became just the second player in team history to surpass the 2,000-dig mark in her career. She now has 2,011 and trails the program’s career leader by 72.

Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by the Athletic Department on Thursdays. Sturgill also earned the award once last year.
