Fitzgerald Promoted to Offensive Coordinator

Coach Fitzgerald is in his second year on the Lake Forest College staff and his fourth as an assistant coach. He was promoted to offensive coordinator in the spring and will continue to direct the Foresters' quarterbacks.

Fitzgerald served as the team's special teams coordinator in 2005. Lake Forest led the Midwest Conference and set a school record with a 22.4 yard kickoff return average. The squad also ranked second in the league in kickoff coverage, allowing opponents just 17.8 yards per return.

Under Fitzgerald's direction, Lake Forest quarterbacks came within one touchdown pass of the single-season school record. Forester signal-callers ranked fourth in the MWC in pass efficiency.

After graduating from Lake Forest in 2003, Fitzgerald coached the wide receivers at fellow Midwest Conference member Carroll College for two seasons. Pioneer wideouts garnered three all-conference awards under his guidance and his top receiver in 2004 led the league in catches, yards, and touchdowns.

A stellar senior season in 2002 capped off Fitzgerald's four-year career at Lake Forest . He caught 58 passes that season for 796 yards and eight touchdowns. All three team-leading totals continue to rank among the program's all-time leaders. He also captained the Foresters to a 9-2 record, the most wins in their history, and the program's first conference title since 1983.

In addition, Fitzgerald tallied more than 850 return yards in his career, including a school record-tying 544 on punts.
