Nancy Findeisen Named MWC South Division Player of the Week
Pitcher earns league's first weekly honor of the season

Nancy Findeisen is 4-2 with a 0.51 ERA so far this season.
LAKE FOREST, IL - Lake Forest College softball player Nancy Findeisen (Beecher, IL/Beecher) was named Midwest Conference South Division Player of the Week for her contributions to the team's 6-6 start this season. Tuesday's (April 2nd) selection was the first of the season and included all games played thus far.

Findeisen started the year with a bang, collecting a 1-0 victory over Muskingum College, the 2001 NCAA Division III National Champion and the country's top-ranked team (USA Today/National Fastpitch Coaches Association). The loss snapped Muskingum's NCAA record 35-game winning streak.

Her second start was a 2-0 shutout of Denison University, who was ranked #9 in the country in the same preseason poll that had Muskingum on top. Denison managed just three hits off Findeisen.

The sophomore followed up the pair of shutouts over nationally ranked teams with a 4-0 no-hitter against Springfield College. She struck out 13 and walked just one in the game.

In her fourth start of the year, Findeisen held Simpson College to just three hits but lost 1-0, ending her school record streak of 27.1 scoreless innings. Her next game was also a loss, although she took a no-hitter into the fifth before falling 2-0 to St. Xavier University.

Last Wednesday (March 27th) at Carthage College, a single with two outs in the seventh inning ended her bid for a second no-hitter. It was Carthage's only hit in the 1-0 Forester victory. The game was the fourth straight that Findeisen held her opponent hitless for at least the first four innings.

For the season, the right-hander is 4-2 with a 0.51 earned run average. She has finished all six games she started and has already set a new school record for shutouts in a season with four. In 41 innings, she has allowed just 16 hits and four walks while striking out 40 and holding opposing hitters to a miniscule .119 batting average.

The Midwest Conference Players of the Week are selected by the league's sports information directors.
